Whether you’re practising in secret, not feeling your usual connection to your magick, or simply want to make the mundane more special, there’s a whole heap of ways to incorporate witchcraft into your everyday life. From colour magick to herbs and candles, here’s a few of the most simple (and inexpensive) ways to bring the craft with you through your day.
Colour Magick
Colour magick is one of the most popular ways of practising simple spells on the down-low. Each colour has a different meaning to it – we recommend looking at this website to find out some correspondences.
Incorporating colour magick is easy, and you can customise it to your own personal style and preferences. Want to increase feelings of self-love? Try painting your nails pink. Want to give yourself good luck and abundance? Wear your favourite green shirt. Want to help your intuition? Perhaps wear a gold ring or piece of jewellery. You don’t even have to bless your nail polish or jewellery if you’re in a hurry or unable.
Kitchen Witchery
If you’re a whiz in the kitchen or want to learn more, kitchen witchery is the way to go. Herbal magick is incredibly powerful, and, provided you have culinary-grade ingredients, can be easily added to food or drink with magickal intention. Even things as simple as salt and pepper can be used in magick – and often are – so you can try this out even if you don’t have a wide selection of herbs and spices available to you.
Another common trick is stirring intention into your beverages before you drink them – much simpler than guessing what herb might taste nice and potentially ruining the drink! Stirring clockwise is thought to bring positivity, and counter-clockwise for banishment of negative energies. Think about your intention in your head or whisper it aloud to feel the magick flow.
Mindfulness
We’re sure you’ve heard this before: “just practice mindfulness and it will solve all your problems!” While that’s not strictly true, it can be beneficial for your craft. Whether it takes the form of grounding and centring, or simply practicing getting in the zone before you complete a ritual, a 10-minute meditation can be hugely helpful, and calming too.
Yoga is also an excellent combination with witchcraft, if exercise is your thing. The history of yoga is based in spirituality and encourages focusing on your breath and your body’s movements. Practicing for a few minutes in the morning or before you begin a ritual could help you centre your attention on your craft, and you don’t even need to find special videos for it. Be One With Nature
In these uncertain times, it’s best to put a disclaimer here: get outside, if it’s safe to do so. Going for a walk, exercising outdoors, or simply sitting outside for five minutes can be an incredible way to appreciate the world around you and its beauty. If it’s not safe for you to leave your house, try sitting by an open window and breathing in some fresh air while you meditate or during your practice. You might even be able to take your practice outside, if that’s an option for you. Just please do remember that it may not be safe just yet to go outside to socialise or take extended exercise, but it will be soon.
Candles
Candles are one of the key parts of witchcraft, and they can easily be a part of your day-to-day life. Burning a candle while you work or to soften the lighting in the evening can be incredibly calming – not to mention magickal! You might wish to burn a candle of a particular colour to match your intentions, or go for a distinctive scent to achieve some calm or as part of a ritual. No matter how you choose to do it, a candle can be the perfect way to connect your magickal practice to the mundane parts of your day.
